Phablet is a class of mobile devices combining or straddling the size format of smartphones and tablets (5 - 5.7 inches). It is designed as an alternative for those who need both a mobile phone and a tablet but refuses to carry two devices at the same time. The word itself is a portmanteau of the words "phone" and "tablet". Market analysts predicted that phablet would become an interesting trend in the near future due to its rising popularity during 2011 - 2012. They believe there would be more phablets in the market for the users to choose.
Tablet is a device similar to a personal computer. Its screen size is relatively large (7 inches and above). However, it is portable and touchscreen functionality is there. It has many different utilities, for example, sending are receiving emails, surfing the Internet, watching a movie, listening to music, gaming, or even creating and editing documents. The advantage of a tablet is its large screen size that allows a larger space for working. It is also lightweight and more portable than a personal computer or a laptop computer. If you would like a quality photos and videos, it is better to choose a tablet with good camera. However, if you require to use the Internet all the time, it is suggested to choose the one that can install a SIM card as well. When you have a good camera, you can take photos or scan documents and keep them in albums for giving presentation. It can be used to keep ebooks and allow you to read without having to carry those heavy books with you all the time. Other utilities apps are also available such as calculator, alarm clock, contact, calendar, appointment, notification, and many more. Google provides a wide range of application that can sync together to provide you with even more convenience such as a Google Calendar that can send notification to your phone as well as pin on a Google Map the venue of the appointment. It tells you how long it would take to reach the venue from home and acts as a GPS to guide you through each travel step. It can also shows a satellite map. For entertainment purpose, social networking apps can be installed such Facebook, Google+, and Youtube. However, most of these apps require an Internet connection while using them.
