Special Batteries

A special battery or power bank has played an important role in the daily lives of many people today. Due to the popularity of various types of portable devices such as mobile phones, tablets, music devices, mobile game players, etc. All of these devices have to use the battery, but it usually runs out during the day which stops the users from using them continuously. In order to solve this issue, a special battery or power bank has been introduced. To buy this special battery, the following items should be considered.

Battery Type
There are two types which are Lithium-ion and Lithium Polymer. The lithium polymer battery has a higher price, but comes with more efficiency. It is mostly equipped within mobile phones. If you have enough budget, you should go with a lithium polymer battery. However, if the budget is limited, a lithium-ion model could also do the work as well.

Power Bank Capacity
In general, the capacity of a spare battery will range from 2,000 - 30,000 mAh. The higher capacity, the more current it could store, which will allow it to charge one device many times or many devices at one time. The downside is it will take more time for charging itself to full capacity, especially those with a capacity of 20,000 mAh, it might have to charge for more than 10 hours. Also the price will be more expensive according to the capacity of the battery as well.

Input Charging Speed
You should select a backup battery that has an appropriate charging time to its full capacity, which should not be too long. A simple calculation could be applied. For example, if the backup battery has a capacity of 20,000 mAh and has a charging input value equal to 1.0 Ah, it will take 20 hours to be fully charged. However, if you go with input 2.0 Ah, it will take only 10 hours to reach its full capacity.

Output Charging Speed
The output charging speed to other portable devices is no less important than the input charging speed. You have to choose the backup battery that has a proper output value with your portable devices. For example, if you have the iPad Mini with a battery capacity of 4,490 mAh and your backup battery has an output value of 1.0 Ah, you will have to spend 4.490 hours of charging time (4 and a half hours). But if your backup battery has an output value of 2.1 Ah, it will take only 2 hours to fully charge.

To be charged portable devices
To select an appropriate battery backup, you should take your portable devices’ capacities into account such as iPhone 5 comes with 1,440 mAh battery, Samsung Galaxy S4 has a battery capacity of 2,400 mAh, iPad 9.7" has around 12,000 mAh, etc. If you have all these 3 devices and need a spare battery that can charge all of them at the same time, you would need a spare battery of 1,440 + 2,400 + 12,000 = 15,840 mAh or more.

Discharging Speed or Decomposition of Charge
This is another factor to be considered when buying a power bank. In case that you leave a spare battery unused for a long time, the battery capacity will gradually decrease making it impossible to fully charge other portable devices. But at present, there is no clear indication to measure this kind of loss so it is very difficult to check. However, it has been observed that buying too cheap power bank will often result in less efficiency because it is assembled from low quality parts which lead to a high discharge rate. Therefore, you should not buy a spare battery that is way too cheap.

Price
Of course, the price is one of the most significant variables in buying a spare battery. In the market, there are a variety of spare batteries to choose from with prices ranging from a few hundred baht to several thousand baht depending on the brand, capacity, input/output charging value, and type of battery used.
